How to sell mockups online

A mockup is a picture of a picture, plus the layered file that makes it useful. Selling it means a preview that looks good in a feed, and a pack that actually opens in Photoshop. That can be one folder link.

How to sell mockups online is a product question, not a canvas question. You already made the scene. Marketplaces are built so strangers can filter "iPhone 15, isometric." If the buyer saw the mockup on your story, they need the PSD, the license, and a checkout. Spike can be that door.

Put the pack in a folder. Show a flattened preview. Price the share. The unpaid view is the shop window. Payment unlocks the layered files. A designer workspace is where those folders live. This page is the mockup-shaped product.

The device preview can be public. The PSD waits on the same URL until they pay.

What a mockup pack actually is

  • Layered PSD, Affinity, or a Figma file you are allowed to pass on.
  • A flattened cover for the unpaid view and for social.
  • Smart-object instructions in a one-page PDF.
  • A license: personal, commercial, or exclusive.

Preview without giving the PSD away

A full-resolution unflattened export is almost the product. Show the scene in use, slightly marked if it is easy to screenshot into a portfolio. Watermark files and sell if your name should sit on the unpaid JPEG. Blur is usually the wrong tool here: people need to see the device chrome.

List it without a marketplace

  1. Build the ZIP as you would email it

Sane names. No nested junk. Sell a ZIP if the archive is the unit.

  2. Price the Spike folder

Pin the URL on the profile that already sends traffic. You can still list the same pack on a marketplace for discovery.

  3. Version in place

When you add a new scene, replace or add files. Buyers who already paid can still use the link if you leave the share on. Say so in the copy.

Price and keeping the pack

You type the number. Spike takes 5% on Free, 1% on Pro, 0% on Business, from the payout. Stripe's card fee still applies. There is no extra listing fee for a DM sale. Free shares last three days; Pro and Business until you turn them off. Free-plan files also follow 30-day retention.

The mockup in the feed is advertising. The PSD is the product. They can share a URL.

Scene bundles and seasonal packs each get their own folder if the prices differ. A winter device pack in November, a desk scene in spring. Followers who missed the story still have the URL if you pin it.

If you also sell logos, sell logo files online. If you sell the whole brand kit as one product, keep mockups and marks in one folder and say what is inside.

Compatibility notes save refunds. Say which Photoshop versions the PSD needs, whether the smart object is a smart object, and whether the scene assumes a square crop. Put that in the unpaid view so people do not buy a desktop scene for a story template they cannot open.

If a buyer pays and then asks for a missing angle, add it to the folder. They still have the URL. That is the library extra: you are not issuing transfer number four because the back-of-phone scene was left out of the first ZIP.

Questions

Good to know

Only if you want their search traffic. If buyers already follow you, a priced Spike folder is enough. You can list in both places.
