WeTransfer says you reached the transfer limit in 2026

People search WeTransfer transfer limit when the send stops even though the file is ready. WeTransfer's plan page says Free is 10 transfers or 3 GB in any rolling 30 days, and a free transfer itself can be up to 3 GB. The clock is theirs. The files are still yours.

WeTransfer says you reached the transfer limit when Free has already done its month. Their plan page is specific. Free can send up to 10 transfers, or 3 GB in total, in any rolling 30 days. Their file-size page adds the other ceiling: one free transfer can be up to 3 GB. A wedding film, a second shoot, or send number 11 walks into that wall.

Spike does not reset WeTransfer's window. It is another door. The files go in a folder. You paste a URL. They download from a page. Keep WeTransfer when you are inside the 10 sends and inside 3 GB and they will take it tonight. Use the folder when the limit already said no.

The allowance is a rolling 30 days. The client is not on that calendar.

Two limits, not one error

People treat "transfer limit" as a single size. WeTransfer publishes two. The account can only move 10 transfers or 3 GB across the last 30 days. A single free transfer can itself be up to 3 GB, which means one large send can spend the whole month. Their help says the window rolls. Slots come back as old transfers age out. They do not come back because you refreshed the tab.

  • Free: up to 10 transfers or 3 GB in any 30 days.
  • One free transfer: up to 3 GB, on their file-size page.
  • Those free links still expire. Their free-plan page says after 3 days.
  • Ultimate is where they remove the per-transfer size cap. Their plan page says up to 1 TB a transfer.

Waiting is their answer. It is a poor client answer.

If you sent 10 small PDFs this week, the next WAV waits until the oldest send falls out of the 30 days. The client did not choose that calendar. A file that is simply over 3 GB never enters the free window at all. Upgrade on WeTransfer if you want to stay in that pipe and you like it. Put the pack on a page if the job is "they need it today."

Same email. The attachment is a URL. WeTransfer's counter is not in the message.

A 3 GB file does not fit on Spike Free

Be straight about the room. Spike Free is 2 GB and 2,000 files. A transfer that used the whole 3 GB free ceiling is larger than Free. Pro is £8 a month at 500 GB. Business goes up to 10 TB. A 40 MB pack that failed only because you already sent 10 times can sit on Free if the library has space. How to send files over 50MB is the smaller wall, email and Discord, which stops long before WeTransfer does.

Send it after the limit

  1. Use the files still on your disk

The error does not hold a spare copy. If a public transfer is still up and small enough, you can import that link. Passworded and expired transfers are refused.

  2. Put the pack in one folder

Name the files. A short clip or a treated still if looking would be taking.

  3. Check the plan before a 3 GB upload

Free stops at 2 GB. Pro or Business if the master is the size WeTransfer Free just refused.

  4. Paste your URL in the same email

Tell them WeTransfer hit its limit and this page is the pack. Do not attach the ZIP again.

The month is full on WeTransfer. The zip can still live on a page you send.

When the limit was also the invoice

A free transfer plus a PayPal note is how people give the files away and chase the card. If they still owe you, price the folder after the copy is in. Stripe, in GBP, minimum £1. Selling fee 5% on Free and 1% on Pro and Business, plus Stripe's card fee. Censor and sell a WeTransfer. Spike does not take PayPal. Keep WeTransfer, and keep that wallet, when the job really is a free send.

When to stay on WeTransfer anyway

  • You are inside 10 sends and inside 3 GB, and they will download tonight.
  • You already pay for Ultimate and the larger pipe is the whole job.
  • The file should not exist next week. A draft. A password. A one-night hop.

Dual-run is honest. WeTransfer while the allowance lasts. A folder when the counter says no, or when the link must outlive three days. If the free link already died, that is a different screen. This transfer has expired.

The limit is their month. The file is still yours.

WeTransfer says you reached the transfer limit in 2026 because Free is 10 sends or 3 GB in 30 days, and one free transfer tops out at 3 GB. Do not refresh it. Put the pack on a page if it fits the storage you have, and send that URL. What Spike is is the door that does not share their counter.
