WeTransfer says this transfer has expired when the timer won. The email is still in the inbox. The button is a closed door. In 2026 that screen is still how a Friday send dies on a Monday. WeTransfer's own help is plain: Free and Starter plans can keep an upload online for up to 3 days. The clock starts when you send, not when they open it.

Spike is not a second timer with a nicer logo. It is a folder URL. They open a page. They can look. They can come back. You can password it, or put a price on it. What the expired page actually means

It is not a corrupt file and not a bad link you can refresh. WeTransfer removes the download when the availability window ends. Their Transfers panel drops it from the overview. The recipient staring at the page cannot buy that back. They need you.

Do not resend the same pipe

When the expired link was also the invoice

A free transfer plus a PayPal note is two rooms. They miss the window, then ask for the files before the card. Put the price on the folder. Stripe, in GBP, minimum £1. They look, pay, and download on that URL. Charge for a download link. Spike does not take PayPal. Keep WeTransfer, and keep PayPal, when that pair is truly the job.

When to stay on WeTransfer anyway

• The file should not exist next week. A draft, a password, a one-night hop.
• You are on Ultimate and the longer pipe is enough.
• They already downloaded it. The expired screen is just late.
