Shopify vs Spike for digital downloads is a category error if you treat them as two file hosts. Shopify is commerce infrastructure. Themes, checkout, apps, inventory, a staff login, a pixel. You can make it deliver a ZIP. You will also pay for a shop you did not need if the only SKU is a Lightroom pack a follower already asked for.

Keep Shopify when the brand is a store: objects, bundles, a domain, support macros, the whole costume. Use Spike when merchandising is extra and the unpaid view should be a treated file, not a product card with a fake shipping line.

Shopify apps for digital downloads are real software. They also inherit every shop problem: theme updates, app conflicts, a checkout that asks questions a ZIP does not need. If you already run merch on Shopify, keep it. Add Spike beside it for the jobs that should never have been products: the gallery, the commission, the stem pack. Staff should not need a Shopify login to send a client a door. The theme can keep selling objects. The folder can keep selling files.
