FetchApp vs Spike is a fulfillment pipe versus a door. FetchApp earned a following by attaching files to store products and emailing the download after checkout. Useful when Shopify, or another cart, is already the brand store. Spike is what you want when merchandising is extra and the unpaid view should be a treated file, not a product card with a fake shipping line.

Keep FetchApp when the store must remain the till and you only needed reliable delivery after the card. Use Spike when you do not want to maintain a product, an app, and a second record that can drift apart. Charge for a download link is that switch.

A store takes the card. A pipe emails the ZIP. The folder URL is the till when neither building was the product.

When stacking them is the leak

Shopify plus FetchApp plus a transfer "just in case" is three places the pack can rot. If the theme is the brand store for objects, deliver files with the path you already trust, or stop putting client galleries in the bag. Do not add a pipe on top of a store on top of a Drive.

When the URL can be the till

Treat the unpaid view. Price the share. Fees 5% / 1% / 0% plus Stripe. Pro and Business for a door that must outlive the weekend. Staff paste a link. They do not need a Shopify login to send a client a pack.

If you needed a pipe inside a store, FetchApp is the extra. If you needed a page, the stack is furniture.

FetchApp is real software. It also inherits every shop problem: theme updates, app conflicts, a checkout that asks questions a ZIP does not need. If you already run merch on Shopify, keep it. Add Spike beside it for the jobs that should never have been products: the gallery, the commission, the stem pack. Staff should not need a Shopify login to send a client a door. The theme can keep selling objects. The folder can keep selling files. A standing FetchApp SKU can stay. A DM pack should not wait on an app that emails a link after a cart they never needed. Paste the folder URL instead.
