How writers deliver manuscripts is still, in too many inboxes, the full draft as the first look and an invoice in a second tab. Each hop is a place an editor stalls, or walks away with the piece. Manuscript delivery should be one door they already have open.

This is the year of jobs: a sample, a commission, a revision, a book pack. Freelancers have the generic year. This page is the draft.

Why drafts still leave early

  • The full file in the first email is already the delivery.
  • A new editor asks in month two. The thread is gone.
  • Docs sharing shows every comment next to the issued draft.
  • The remaining fee is unpaid, and the piece already shipped.

How this looks on a year of pages

Sample

A chapter or a page they can taste. Not the answer, not the ending, not the full report. Enough to judge the voice.

Commission

Password the door. If the remaining fee is due, put the price on that URL. Get paid before sending files. Your contract still says how many rounds sit on that door.

Revision

Replace the file. Tell them the URL did not change. A new transfer for every redline is how versions get lost.

Book or pack

A collection you sell more than once: a zine, a guide, a template set. Public sample, a price. Sell PDFs, ebooks, and templates.

    The issued file, a note on rights if you use one. Nothing from another commission.

  2. Decide the unpaid view

    A sample. Not the full draft if money is due.

  3. Price it if they still owe you

    The writer payment link is the folder. When checkout completes, the same URL is the download.

A draft that must stay fetchable belongs on Pro or Business. How educators deliver course files is the classroom cousin. Rights notes belong in the folder: first serial, ghost, or a kill fee. A buried email does not survive a new desk. Track changes stay in the file. The page is for the version they should read, not the trail.

If they can taste the voice, they should be able to pay for the draft without a second attachment.
