How podcasters sell bonus episodes is still, in too many feeds, a pledge tier for a file that is a one-off, or a Drive in the show notes. Each habit either makes a listener become a patron to fetch one episode, or leaks the extra. Podcast file delivery should be one door they already have open.

This is the year of jobs: a bonus episode, a season pack, a live recording, ad-free masters. The show can stay in the public feed. The extra is a folder. Creators already work this way when the drop is a file.

The public wave is the show. The bonus is a second wave behind checkout.

Why bonus files still stall

  • A pledge is a costume for a one-off ZIP.
  • A Drive in the notes is a public folder with extra steps.
  • They will ask again next season. The story expired.
  • The unpaid file is already the episode.

How this looks on a year of shows

Bonus episode

A short clip in the unpaid view. Not the clean master. Price the folder. Send the URL in the episode or the newsletter. They do not need a patron account to finish the job.

Season pack

A collection with a contents list. One checkout. Add a missing transcript in place. Tell them the URL did not change.

Live night

People who were in the room already want the file. A clip, a price, a password if it should not travel. Sell exclusive digital content is the privacy note.

Ad-free masters

If the extra is the same episode without ads, say so. The unpaid view can be the public cut. The paid view is the clean file. Do not pretend a shop window is a velvet rope if you will post it free next month.

Spike takes 5% on Free, 1% on Pro, 0% on Business, from the payout. Stripe's card fee still applies. Free shares last three days, enough for a night drop if they know to grab it. A season pack belongs on Pro or Business. How musicians deliver stems is the audio cousin.

If they can hear the clip, they should be able to pay for the bonus without becoming a patron.
